Most of what streams is built to keep you there. A film club can be built the other way round — fewer films, chosen with care, and a room of people who watched the same thing and want to talk about it.
The model
A different arrangement with filmmakers.
Creators keep their films and a fair share of what those films earn. No algorithm deciding what surfaces, no advertising to answer to — the aim is a place where independent work can be seen and can pay, without either of those being a favour.
It’s live, and still very much being figured out. I help build it — the operations, the systems underneath, and the thinking about what the model should be.
